Grind Fresh For Perfect Flavour
Aroma
Coffee begins to lose flavour and aroma within minutes of being ground.
Undertones
Grinding fresh locks in the unique floral and fruity undertones that distinguish Blue Mountain coffee.
Grind
Pre-ground coffee often results in flat or bitter brews, especially with such premium beans.
The grind is one of the most important steps in brewing Jamaican coffee, it directly affects the aroma, texture, and flavour profile of your cup. Because Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee is prized for its smooth and complex taste, grinding correctly ensures you don’t lose its delicate notes of chocolate, nuts, and caramel.
- Coarse grind – Use for French press or cold brew. This allows slower extraction, ideal for highlighting the coffee’s natural sweetness and balanced acidity.
- Medium grind – Suited for drip, pour-over, or filter methods. It creates a bright, aromatic cup, smooth and clean, showcasing the classic luxury coffee flavour Jamaica is known for.
- Fine grind – Perfect for espresso machines or moka pots. It draws out a rich, creamy intensity, enhancing the deep cocoa and nutty notes of Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee.
For the best results, use a burr grinder instead of a blade grinder. Burr grinders provide an even consistency that ensures balanced extraction, an essential detail when brewing premium beans.
Because of its rich yet balanced flavour profile, Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee works beautifully with multiple brewing methods. Each technique brings out different elements, from floral aromas to buttery smooth textures.
French Press – Full-Bodied & Aromatic
Perfect for those who enjoy a robust, rich cup that highlights the deeper chocolate and nutty notes of Blue Mountain coffee.
How to brew:
- Use a coarse grind (like sea salt).
- Add 2 tablespoons of ground Jamaican coffee per 180ml of water.
- Pour hot water evenly over the grounds and let them bloom for 30 seconds this releases trapped gases and intensifies the aroma.
- Stir gently and steep for 4 minutes.
- Press the plunger down slowly and serve immediately.
Espresso – Intense & Creamy
For a bold, velvety shot that celebrates the richness of Jamaican coffee, try brewing it as an espresso.
How to brew:
- Use a fine grind (slightly finer than table salt).
- Pack the portafilter evenly with 18–20g of coffee.
- Brew at 9 bars of pressure for about 25–30 seconds.
- Expect a deep, golden crema with smooth cocoa and caramel tones.
This method brings out the strength and intensity of Blue Mountain coffee, perfect for lattes, cappuccinos, or simply enjoyed as a pure espresso.
Pour Over (V60 or Chemex) – Clean & Refined
This method highlights the clarity and elegance of Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee, revealing subtle floral notes and a crisp, balanced finish.
How to brew:
- Use a medium grind, similar to granulated sugar.
- Rinse your filter with hot water to eliminate paper taste and preheat your vessel.
- Add your grounds and gently pour a small amount of hot water to bloom, 30–45 seconds.
- Slowly pour in the rest of the water in circular motions for even extraction.
- Total brewing time: around 3–4 minutes.
Preserve your luxury coffee beans by storing them in an airtight container, away from light, heat, and moisture. Avoid the fridge room temperature is best.
Our coffees distinctive flavour is smooth, sweet, and perfectly balanced, but can fade quickly if not stored correctly. Treat your luxury coffee like fine wine: protect it from air, light, heat, and moisture.
Where you store your coffee is just as important as how you store it.
- Keep it away from direct sunlight, stovetops, or ovens — heat accelerates staling.
- Avoid moisture-rich areas like the fridge or freezer. While many people believe freezing preserves freshness, condensation forms each time the beans are removed, damaging their oils and aroma.
- Instead, choose a cool, dry cupboard or pantry — ideally between 15–25°C.
This stable environment protects your Blue Mountain coffee from fluctuations that could dull its distinctive sweetness and delicate aroma.
Shelf life:
- Whole beans: Best enjoyed within 4–6 weeks of roasting.
- Ground coffee: Consume within 2 weeks for optimal flavour.
